    Malaysia Plantation politics

    In our last issue we published a piece on high-tech sector workers in Malaysia focusing on the health hazards that these people face. This article presents another side of Malaysia's industrialization about 270,000 families work in the plantation sector. They work in oil plam, rubber, cocoa and coconut cultivation the major primary products of Malaysia of the 270,000 families 48% are Indians brought from South India to Malaysia to open plantations in the early 1900s. The rest are Malays, Indigenous people of Malaysia and chinese, Migrants from china.
