    Like in most other countries the basic minimum age for employment in sir Lanka is 14.However the employment of children below the age of 14 by their parents.or guardian in light agricultural or horticultural work is permitted for less than one hour or any day before school.light work is al so permitted in any school or institution for training purposes or in any dramatic performance.
