    The Bank has been actively involved in the development of agriculture and the rural economy in Asia through the financing of capital investment and technical assistance projects in its developing member countries (DMCs) for over ten years.In its first year of loan operations in the field, 1968, the Bank approved for lending a total of $ 2 million for one project, in 1977,$ 260 million in loans was a approved to help finance 16 projects in the agriculture/agro industry sector covering irrigation,fisheries, forestry,rural development agro-processing and storage.
