    Interdisciplinary research towards management of non-timber forest resources in lowland rain forests of Sri Lanka.

    Lowland and mid-elevational rain forests of Sri Lanka harbor over 90% of the angiosperm species endernic to the island and are among the floristically richest biomcs in the whole of South Asia. These rain forests are restricted to about 15000KM of the Southwestern quarter of the island popularly known as the "wet zone" even with in this small area the species distribution is highly localized.
