Item Growth variations and the patterns of causalities among major macro-economic indicators of selected Asian countries(1990-10) kalirajan, K.P; A. Kapuscinski, CezaryThe countries of the Asian continent and the pacific region are characterized by very diverse economic achievements. In particular the economies of the South Asia stand at the bottom with the ASEAN member. Countries in the middle and the newly industrializing countries of the far east at the top of the ladder. This paper, attempt to provide a quantitative assessment of the development processes in the Asian countries. We begin with an overview of the economic achievement of countries selected from the comparison of the growth patterns of their major economic aggregats. Next the Japanese model of development is discussed in the context, of the learn by reference by prothesis in development economics. The allows to formulate testable hypotheses concerning the development patterns of the Asian Countries. Following a brief discussion of the data and their stationarity properties ,the out comes of our tests are presented and discussed. We conclude that the data in general support the learn by reference hypothesis for the South East and far East countries.
