Abstract:
This paper provides an overview of migration and remittances in Sri Lanka, showing how migration and remittances have impacted on poverty reduction. It analyses how migration trends can be more efficiently managed for effective development and how remittances can be better channelled to improve the overall quality of the life of migrants, their families and their communities. The paper also provides some insights on the present policies on migration and remittances.
