Why people choose to participate in the informal sector in Sri Lanka?
Abstract
This study makes use of the Sri Lanka Integrated Survey 1999/2000 (SLIS, 2000) to analyze how individual, household and location specific characteristics determines employment in different sectors. An ‘occupation choice’ model is used to explore the determinants of sector participation.
