Abstract
The health of the Sri Lankan workers has received the attention of both state and employer from the late nineteenth century on wards.Laws have been enacted to ensure the physical health and safety of the worker in plantations, factories, shops, mines and other work places. Within the last few decades, however with the rising complexity of occupations on the one hand and the increasingly repetitive nature of work on the other hand as well as problems allied to employment such as travel and housing the concept of occupational health has expanded to include not only the physical health of workers but also their mental and social health
