Abstract
The city of hope is the riveting and incisive description of India's first major experiment rehabilitation of 50,000 refugees from the North West frontiers province through self-help at faridabad 20 kilometers from Delhi Jawaharlal Neru saw the faridabad project as a laboratory to test plans for building modern India of his dreams.So deep was his involvement that between 1949-52 Neru found time to be present at the first 20 meetings of the faridabad development board.
