The essential elements of the Dirigiste Dogma, as I see them can be briefly stated. The major one is the belief that the price mechanism or the working of a market economy, needs to be supplanted by various forms of direct government control both national and international to promote economic development. A complementary element is the belief that the traditional concern of orthodox micro-economics with the allocation of given resources is at best of minor importance in the design of public policies.en_US
