    The importance Sri Lanka attaches to foreign investment is emphasized in the investment policy statement of October 31,1990 which explicitly opened the economy to foreign investment. This guide summarizes and explains to foreign investors how these policies are currently implemented and describes the benefits and assistance they can expect when investing in Sri Lanka. Further action is planned in the institutional support provided to investors and simplification of taxes and tariffs and this guide will be updated to reflect these changes as they are introduced.
